In the context of the Corona crisis, PNE Group supports a number of selected social projects and organisations around the world. One of the recipients is the Great Kei local municipality in South Africa, which was supported by the Haga Haga wind farm of PNE subsidiary WKN Windcurrent SA with 50,000 South African rand (the equivalent of around €2,500). The money was used to purchase and distribute food parcels for needy residents and triggered a snowball effect, which prompted other local businesses to support the population with food donations as well.

Six filled bakkie loads of parcels were shared between the iCwili community in Kei Mouth and the iXarga community in Morgans Bay. The parcel contained, among other things, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, rice, sunlight soap and general cleaner. The transport was provided free of charge by the suppliers.

The Kei Mouth, Morgans Bay, Marshstrand and HagaHaga communities all joined hands to paint the junior section and supply the teacher with learning aids. A vedgetable garden was planted with donated seedlings and the staff and disabled learners have all contributed to its upkeep. Presently egg plant fruit are being harvested and they have grown to a beautiful size.
